Paws with Sanctuary

Helping caregivers talk to kids about their feelings, experiences, and mental health

Paws with Sanctuary is a story series intended to help caregivers talk to the children in their lives about their feelings, experiences, and mental health. The dogs that inspire these stories are real—though their stories may be slightly exaggerated ?

In “The Ballad of Buster and Apollo” we see some of the impacts of loss, grief and death. This is heavier subject matter, but it is an experience that we all have and one many children will have early in life due to the loss of a Grandparent or a beloved pet. We believe we have addressed these issues with care, but if you’re reading with a very small child and are concerned about these themes, please read it on your own before sharing it with them.

Stay tuned for the next installation in our story series!
