We offer a robust Co-Occurring Disorders (COD) program at Sanctuary Centers. With specialized counseling services for those with mental health issues coupled with substance abuse, these services are always tailored specifically to the needs of our clients. Our treatment teams listen attentively and address each client’s complete clinical condition, offering aid in areas ranging from managing medication and practicing daily self-care to cultivating independent living skills and developing long-term educational, vocational, and career goals.
What to Expect
Our multidisciplinary teams work with each client in the program to set realistic and purposeful goals.
Program Goals
- Encourage clients to foster behavioral changes that support abstinence from drugs and alcohol as they pursue their new lifestyle.
- Facilitate clients’ active participation with the community as they develop healthy relationships and caring support systems.
- Support clients as they identify, define, and combat any potential psychosocial problems (e.g., housing, employment, adherence to probation requirements).
- Assist clients in developing a positive support network.
- Work closely with clients’ with co-occurring disorders to improve their problem-solving skills and form useful coping strategies for managing cravings and avoiding triggers.
- Mentor each client to sustain their individual recovery as they ease back into daily life.
Services Include
- A thorough intake, assessment protocol, and aftercare plan for continued success.
- A personalized, individualized treatment plan focused on mental health issues and relapse prevention.
12-Steps Recovery Support options (Sanctuary Centers offers in-house 12-step meetings), as well as other social support networks. - For clients experiencing symptoms associated with PTSD, we offer trauma-informed treatment.
- Group therapy sessions incorporating art therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychoeducational and mindfulness-based treatment models are available
- Random drug/alcohol screenings are a part of the program.
- Clients in 12-step programs are encouraged to build and facilitate a relationship with a sponsor.
- Sanctuary Centers also extends access to additional services such as family and couples counseling and career development services.
How Much Does It Cost for Co-Occurring Disorders Services?
Sanctuary Centers offers co-occurring disorders and substance abuse services through our Outpatient Drug-Free program. In partnership with the County of Santa Barbara Department of Behavioral Wellness, Sanctuary Centers offers these services to Medi-Cal recipients. For those clients who require a higher level of support, our Intensive Outpatient Treatment program offers programming a minimum of three hours a day, three times per week.
